LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Cadell Walk­er rushed to get her 9-year-old daugh­ter Solome vac­ci­nat­ed against COVID-19 — not just to pro­tect her, but to help stop the coro­n­avirus from spread­ing and spawn­ing even more dan­ger­ous vari­ants.

Not enough dial­y­sis pa­tients are get­ting vac­ci­nat­ed, ac­cord­ing to Dr Emile Mo­hammed, Clin­i­cal Co­or­di­na­tor of the North-West Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty's COVID-19 par­al­lel health­care sys­tem.

Health Min­is­ter Ter­rence Deyals­ingh has re­vealed that the coun­try’s vac­ci­na­tion pro­gramme has stalled. This comes as the coun­try 22 re­port­ed deaths from the COVID-19 virus yes­ter­day—the sec­ond-high­est in 24 hours. The high­est num­ber of deaths, 23, was record­ed on May 18

Par­lia­ment will con­vene on Wednes­day to end the state of emer­gency (SoE) al­though COVID-19 cas­es and deaths have been in­creas­ing, Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley an­nounced yes­ter­day.

Eight more peo­ple have lost their lives to COVID-19, while an­oth­er 345 peo­ple have test­ed pos­i­tive for the dis­ease, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est up­date from the Min­istry of Health.

BERLIN (AP) — The Aus­tri­an gov­ern­ment or­dered a na­tion­wide lock­down for un­vac­ci­nat­ed peo­ple start­ing mid­night Sun­day to slow the fast spread of the coro­n­avirus in the coun­try.
