Angelo Daniel Austin has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Foods.
His appointment took effect on January 1st, 2025.
In a news release from the supermarket chain, the company noted that Austin had over 25 years of dedicated service to the organization.
The company said, Austin, who had previously served as marketing manager at the supermarket chain, "has played a pivotal role in shaping Xtra Foods into a trusted household name and a leader in the supermarket industry."
The release said, "Beginning his journey with Xtra Foods as a young employee, Austin's career is a testament to perseverance, hard work, innovation and visionary leadership. Over the years, he has worked in various departments throughout the organisation, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its operations, culture and values.
"Rising through the ranks, he has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to align business goals with customer needs, ensuring Xtra Foods delivers on its promise of excellence."
Austin holds an MBA with distinction in international marketing and brand management from Anglia Ruskin University and he completed the business analytics programme at Harvard Business School Online. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), "underscoring his expertise in markeing, strategic management and governance.
Xtra Foods said, "Beyond his professional achievements, Austin has been the driving force behind numerous corporate social responsibility initiatives, including environmental beautification projects, disaster relief efforts, community and charity support programmes. Austin also serves as a director on the board of TSTT and as a director of the Chaguanas Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Xtra Foods was first opened 59 years ago in Chaguanas. It has since opened six locations across Trinidad and Tobago, including in four shopping plazas.
The supermarket chain was founded by Leela Sukdeo Naipaul and her husband Sukdeo Naipaul.
