Women of different generations gathered at the Oasis Garden in San Fernando on July 11 for the inaugural Yes You Afternoon Tea for Women, an event centred on self-affirmation, fellowship and celebration.
Hosted by The Princess Within Foundation (TPW), the afternoon brought together women ranging from 18-year-olds to more seasoned attendees, with fashion and personal expression forming a prominent part of the occasion.
The setting reflected the event’s emphasis on individuality, with guests arriving in brightly coloured outfits, elaborate fascinators and carefully coordinated ensembles. Yellow, white and orange dominated the décor and dress, creating a vibrant backdrop for an afternoon designed to put women firmly in the spotlight.
But beyond the fashion, the gathering provided an opportunity for conversation and connection.
Music, modelling, humour and what organisers described as “girl talk” formed the entertainment throughout the afternoon, with guests moving easily between the various elements of the programme.
For TPW founder Hazel-Ann Bobb-Haggard, the event was an invitation for women to prioritise themselves and embrace the idea of saying “yes” to their own needs, aspirations and individuality.
That message appeared to resonate with the women in attendance, many of whom embraced the occasion as much for the opportunity to dress up and socialise as for its underlying message of self-worth.
The afternoon also brought together several generations of women, providing a space where younger attendees and older women could share an experience outside the usual settings in which their paths might cross.
Food and beverages complemented the programme, adding to the leisurely atmosphere associated with an afternoon tea.
The event was held as part of activities in support of International Day of the Girl and marked the foundation’s first venture into hosting the women-focused afternoon tea.
With the inaugural event sold out, the organisers are looking towards another edition in 2027.
