The UWI Afrikan So­ci­ety held its 11th pro­duc­tion ti­tled “A Mas To Plan”, sig­nalling its re­turn as an ac­tive con­trib­u­tor to lo­cal African her­itage and cul­ture.

The fundrais­er event was a the­atri­cal pro­duc­tion, based on a vil­lage of tra­di­tion­al Car­ni­val char­ac­ters, such as mid­night rob­bers and dev­ils, touch­ing on hu­man ex­pe­ri­ences of con­flict, vi­o­lence, ha­tred and the out­comes of such.

The char­ac­ters were sup­port­ed by African dancers and drum­mers who laid the foun­da­tion for the con­nec­tion be­tween the Car­ni­val arts and the African in­flu­ence com­ing out of colo­nial times.
