“Because of His Love,” a heartwarming Christmas concert series staged at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, from November 28-30, delivered three nights of music, drama and dance that resonated deeply with audiences.
The production was musically and artistically directed by Bernadette Scott, with drama direction by Dr Helmer Hilwig and choreography by Tonya Gooding. Technical support was provided by Franklyn Agarrat, Celia Wells and Kevon La Fleur, whose combined expertise ensured a seamless and memorable presentation.
This year’s concert also marked a significant milestone for The Love Movement, which celebrated 53 years of healing hearts and changing lives through music and the arts.
For more than five decades, the organisation has used the performing arts and spirituality as powerful tools for inspiration, transformation and social impact.
Founded in 1972 by Laughlin-Scott, The Love Movement began as a modest choir of 15 women from the St Ann’s RC Church. Over the years, it has grown into a vibrant non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering peace, love and unity—one note at a time.
Guided by its mission, to “Heal Hearts and Change Lives One Note at a Time,” the organisation extends its reach far beyond the concert stage.
At the core of its work is the Trinity of Choirs: the Senior Choir, the Republic Bank Youth Outreach Group, and the Lights of Love Children’s Choir. Through weekly meetings and structured programmes, these choirs provide safe, nurturing environments that offer holistic support to children and young people, particularly those from marginalised and at-risk communities.
The Love Movement has touched the lives of countless children and youth across T&T, including those from institutions such as the Credo Foundation, Sophia House, St Mary’s Children’s Home and Rainbow Rescue. In 2024, the organisation expanded its outreach to include children with disabilities from The Living Waters Children’s Home – Our Lady of the Wayside, underscoring its ongoing commitment to inclusivity, compassion and care.
Music, drama and dance remain the cornerstone of The Love Movement’s outreach. Through creative expression, participants develop discipline, confidence and spiritual grounding—essential life skills that help shape purpose-driven individuals and guide them towards brighter, more fulfilling futures.
