Veteran journalist Dominic Kalipersad has been honoured with a national service award in recognition of his continuous efforts and dedication to T&T.
At the inaugural award ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS) at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) on July 30, Kalipersad was recognised for his “ongoing contributions to our country, people, and youth.”
The MYDNS National Service Award scheme honours individuals and organisations that excel in their efforts to serve their communities or industry and give back to their country.
Addressing the launch, Youth Development and National Service Minister Foster Cummings implored adults to use their years of experience and success to mentor young people—the future of T&T.
Along with Kalipersad, National Service Individual Awards were presented to Mrs Zalayhar Hassanali; Earl Lovelace; David Rudder, Austin “Superblue” Lyons; Robert “Lord Nelson” Nelson; Jarren Richards; Nicholas Pooran; Ephraim Serrette; and Penelope Spencer.
National Service Awards were also presented to organisations that contribute to youth development: The House of Angostura; Hunters Search and Rescue Team; Atlantic Trinidad; Digicel Foundation; NGC Trinidad; RBC Royal Bank; Massy; Shell Trinidad; and the Unit Trust Corporation.
